Planets at events – autumn 2009
If you are attending these conferences, please watch out for Planets presentations, posters, demonstrations and tutorials.
Please visit this page for a full list of Planets contributions at ECDL and iPRES.
ECDL at the Ionian University, Corfu, will look at the rise in social networking applications and online communities and the implications for creating, managing, sharing and retrieving information.
Planets participants will make four presentations on: evaluation of distributed migration and emulation services; the meaning of ‘significance’ in relation to characteristics of digital objects; the capability of image file formats to retain information safely despite data corruption and new facilities in the EPrints open source repository platform and deployment of Plato to preserve digital content.
iPRES 2009, at California Digital Libraries, San Francisco, will look at how to put in place preservation policies, strategies and practices to support long-term preservation of digital assets.
Planets will present three papers in the technical stream: metadata to guide digital preservation services; recovery of digital objects from audio waveforms and a programming model and framework for distributed preservation workflows. During the practitioner stream of the conference, we will present the results of the Planets market survey carried out in spring this year.
We hope you will join us, if at ECDL or iPRES. If you will not be at the events, you will find the papers and presentations on the Planets website after the conferences at: www.planet-project.eu/publications.
